Boots VS Shoes In Hiking
Hiking is a very long term. The definition of hiking is walking but the distance is long and that includes trails and off-road (countryside, rural areas, hill tracks etc.). As it involves walking long distance, nice and proper footwear play the most important role here.
You can get tons of shoes and other footwear in the market and can lost in the maze when it comes to choose the right pair for you.
That’s why we are going to discuss the differences and variations of shoes and boots for hiking. The goal here is to give correct information so that at the end of this article you know what’s right for you.
The common fact is for you to go for a hike, you have two choices here: Shoes and Boots.
If you’re mad enough to get pleasure by hurting your feet you can always go for a pair of flip flop :D Just kidding!
Buying shoes or boots depends on the type of hiker you are. Do you usually go for long journey or short ones? Do you hike on dry/muddy trails or rocky areas?
Weather is a considering fact here. If you hike mostly on rainy days, you want to pick waterproof shoes that are going to keep your feet safe from mud and dirt whereas if you hike on bright weather, shoes with meshed upper part will save you from sweat and dust.
Now jump into the shoes vs boots game.
Leg movement is easier with shoes as they are low cut at the ankles as well as they allow you move fast.
Fast Movement and Agility – If you want both of them in your hike, shoe is the best option for you. In addition, if you don’t like shoe laces you can go for lace free shoes.
Check out these cool shoes:
Boots
Are you a starter? Then start with boots. Although they are quite heavy (of course, even some extra pounds on your feet makes a considerable difference since you’re planning to walk long distance), but being heavy comes with an advantage. It has great padding which will help you as a beginner.
Boots have proven to be far more better than shoes if you are hiking over tough terrains and long distances. As well as the support you get from boots as a hiker with heavy weights on you isn’t the same with shoes.
You might like those boots:
Grab your backpack, a bottle of water of course because dehydration will definitely try to suck you, maps and compass coz you don’t get lost, a multi-tool, matches and torch, and some dry foods.
Take a partner with you if you’re a starter, you’ll have a helping hand and chances to discover way more than you imagined. In addition, hiking is a nice way to know a person in depth.
Memorable and adventurous hiking to you!
Shoes
Shoes are obviously lighter than boots because they contains less cushion and padding than boots. Shoes are good to walk on pre-defined trails and roads. Because of the lightweight feature shoes can carry less shock than boots. If you plan to carry less weight with you, shoes will be just fine for you.Fast Movement and Agility – If you want both of them in your hike, shoe is the best option for you. In addition, if you don’t like shoe laces you can go for lace free shoes.
